Ashleigh’s Story
From Finding a Place to Creating One.
Ashleigh Ellis grew up in a working class family and found more than a sport in figure skating. The ice gave her confidence and showed her what steady effort could make possible. But at her rink and many competitions, she was often the only person of color. She understood the power of skating, as well as the loneliness of loving a sport where she rarely saw herself represented. That stayed with her and became part of the reason she created Unity Ice Academy.
Opening Doors for the Next Generation.
Ashleigh wanted more children to experience skating, especially those whose families could not afford the high cost of the sport. As Founder and CEO, she is building a community where every child can feel supported and take pride in their progress. The confidence they gain on the ice can stay with them throughout their lives.
“These young children will grow into young women and men with dreams, goals, and desires bigger than they ever could have imagined.”
